Why do developers get paid so heavy?

Introduction

The average Salary of a Developer is around $85,000 - $140,000 yearly. Ever wondered why are they paid so much, if there are so many developers out there?

My younger friend, who was just getting started in Web development, asked me a question, he said "there are so many people doing the same thing as we do, but still get paid very well, why is it so?". I gave him the exact same answer which I am going to give you today!

The reason:

Let me frame an analogy for this, likely everyone can run, but why does only Usain Bolt get paid this much? Yes, you are right, everyone can run, but not as efficiently and fast as Usain Bolt! You got the point. Everyone can write a simple program and run it on a console but not everyone can build an amazing-looking site and also responsive in its domain. It takes a lot of practice and experience to get where all the SDEs are right now. You get paid according to your value and experience, also the value you bring to the table and the company. This is the reason why, in order to become a great developer and get a job or build something, you need experience, practice, and discipline!

What to do differently?

In my opinion, you don't really need to do anything different in order to become a good developer. Do the same thing everyone is doing, learn, build, and get better! You can try different domains of work if you feel Development is not for you, and come back later to try out your hand at this!

That was all for the article, I hope you got your answer, also, do consider following me for more such articles and blogs related to web development. Have a great day ahead :).
